If you've been following this blog over the past year, you've been reading about 5 Great Decisions®. That made sense. I was in the middle of a sabbatical year exploring the practice, writing the book, and getting it into the world. 5GD was my whole focus, and this blog followed it.
But something has been coming into focus for me lately. I put all three of my books side by side, and I noticed that what they share isn't a topic. It's a movement.
Each one takes an idea and turns it into action.
What Will I Do All Day? takes the idea of a meaningful retirement, the one so many of us carry for years, and turns it into days you design and create.
It's Still Good takes the dream you can't quite forget and helps you find the very first step, today.
5 Great Decisions takes your vision of who you want to become and turns it into five intentional choices you make every day.
Different seasons of life, same work underneath. It's the work that has driven me for as long as I can remember: helping people get specific about the future they want, and then giving them a framework that moves them toward it.
You might be wondering why any of this matters to you.
Here's why: you probably have an idea too. Maybe it's a chapter of life you're about to step into. Maybe it's a dream you set aside years ago but never quite let go of. Maybe it's a version of yourself you keep meaning to become. And if you're like most of us, that idea has been waiting a while.
That's not a lack of willpower. Ideas usually stall for one of two reasons. Sometimes they're still too vague, and "someday I'd like to…" doesn't give us anything to act on. Other times the idea is clear, but there's nothing to carry it from our heads into our days.
That's the gap I want to help you close.
Going forward, I’ll be writing about life’s transitions, the dreams that have waited too long, and the courage it takes to move toward them. I’ll share real stories, including my own, talk honestly about the fears that keep us standing still, and offer practical ways to begin.
You don't have to be retiring, chasing a big dream, or practicing 5 Great Decisions to find something here. You just need something you care about and a willingness to move toward it.
So, let me ask you: what's one idea you've been carrying around that's ready to become something real?
I'd love to hear it. Share it in the comments, and let's put it into action together.
