Most people think of 5 Great Decisions as a practice for the daily choices that quietly shape who you're becoming. And it is. But here's what I've discovered:

When the goal is specific

For concrete, measurable goals — losing weight, exercising consistently, spending less — 5GD works beautifully because decision moments are everywhere. Take weight loss. You successfully pass up the french fries and order a salad. Victory. Then everyone at your table orders dessert, and you're faced with another decision. Then another. Then another. This is one reason lasting change is so hard — it's not one decision, it's dozens, made in the middle of real life.

I'm in the middle of one of those right now. Dave and I have decided to sell our home. We don't have everything figured out — where we're going, what comes next, what the right answer looks like. And yet, here we are. Moving forward.

What made that possible? Small decisions.

Over the past six months, little choices to start decluttering, to have the hard conversations, to keep going when it would have been easier to hit pause — those decisions built something. Momentum, yes. But more than that: courage. Every small decision we made in alignment with our vision gave us the confidence to keep going. Every time we chose consciously instead of defaulting to comfort, we strengthened something in ourselves.

That's what 5GD does over time. It's not just a practice for daily intentions. It's training for the moments that matter most.
